Thockly was built to bring the rich, tactile, and satisfying auditory experience of mechanical keyboards to every typist on Windows — whether using a thin laptop keyboard, a quiet office membrane board, or low-profile scissor switches.

Our Mission

Custom mechanical keyboards are celebrated for their acoustics — from deep, resonant linear “thocks” to crisp, tactile clicks. However, physical custom keyboards can be prohibitively expensive, inconvenient to carry when traveling, and often too loud for shared workspaces, libraries, or dormitories.

Thockly bridges this gap by synthesizing realistic switch sounds directly through your headphones or desktop speakers. You get the auditory feedback and cadence of a high-end mechanical keyboard on any device you use, without carrying extra hardware or creating unwanted noise in the room.

Native Architecture & Performance

Unlike web-based soundboards or heavy cross-platform wrappers, Thockly is developed natively from the ground up for Windows 10 and 11:

• .NET 10 & WinUI 3: Built on the modern Windows App SDK, offering smooth Fluent Design visuals, dark and light theme adaptation, and minimal memory overhead.
• Low-Latency Audio Engine: Utilizing direct low-level Windows hooks and high-performance audio synthesis pipelines to deliver sound triggers with imperceptible latency (under 10ms).
• Stereo Spatial Field: Accurately positions sound in the stereo spectrum depending on key placement across your keyboard.
• Dual-Phase Voicing: Recreates both the downward press (bottom-out) and the upward return (key release) for authentic acoustic realism.
• Pointer Feedback: Extends tactile audio simulation to mouse clicks (left, right, middle) and smooth trackpad scroll ticks.

Privacy by Design

We believe audio utilities should never compromise security. Thockly’s keyboard hook captures only hardware virtual key codes solely to trigger the corresponding audio sample. It never records, reconstructs, logs, or transmits typed text, passwords, or clipboard content. All audio generation happens locally on your computer.
