Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Thockly (the Windows application) and this marketing website treat information. The app is designed for local sound playback with a privacy-first posture.

Windows application

What we do not collect

• Typed text, passwords, or clipboard content
• Analytics or advertising identifiers inside the app
• Keystroke logging beyond virtual key codes needed to play sounds

What the app processes locally

• Keyboard input: a low-level hook receives virtual key codes and timing so the correct switch sound can play. No character content is reconstructed or stored.
• Mouse and trackpad input: button and scroll events (and normalized trackpad contact position for spatial audio) are used only to trigger sounds.
• Settings: volume, profiles, startup preferences, and similar options are saved on your PC under Windows application data.
• Licensing: trial and license state is stored locally (protected with Windows DPAPI where applicable).

When the app uses the network

Core typing and pointer sounds work without internet access. The app may connect in these cases:

• License activation and validation with Lemon Squeezy (license key, instance identifiers, and your PC name as the instance label at activation)
• Update checks against GitHub Releases for the public installer feed

The installed app includes a 7-day trial before a one-time license is required for ongoing use.

Windows permissions

• Global low-level keyboard and mouse hooks
• Audio output through your default device
• Optional “start with Windows” entry in your user Run key
• Packaged desktop app capabilities declared in the app manifest

This website

• Browser demos: keyboard, mouse, and scroll previews run in your browser; sounds are loaded from this site and are not sent to our servers as typing content.
• Downloads: the free trial button links to the public Windows installer on GitHub Releases.
• Checkout: purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy in an embedded checkout. Payment and billing data are handled by Lemon Squeezy under their policies.
• Affiliate cookies: if present, an ls_aff_ref cookie may be appended to checkout links per Lemon Squeezy’s affiliate program.

We do not run third-party analytics scripts on this site in the current codebase. Hosting logs may still be collected by your hosting provider.

Children

Thockly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date.
